 Great Blue Hole, Belize

Great Blue Hole is a hole under the water gap in the coastal Belize. This hole has a diameter of 1000 feet and a depth of 400 feet. This hole is formed as a limestone cave since the ice age.


Chuquicamata, Chile


Chuquicamata mines are open pit mines in Chile. This is mine with a total production of the world's highest - although this is not the biggest mines. Mine is inside 850 meters. 
 

Udachnaya Pipe, Russia

Udachnaya pipes are diamond mines in Russia. The owner intends to cease mining operations in 2010 - to undertake underground mining. Mine was discovered in 1955 and it reached 600 meters.




Sink hole, Guatemala

In 2007, a hole 300 feet deep collapsed in Guatemala swallows houses - killing 2 people and caused thousands moved. The hole was caused by rain and underground waste stream.

Diavik Mine, Canada

Diavik mines are mines in the Northwest territories of Canada. This mine opened in 2003, yielded 8 million carats or about 1,600 kg (3500 lb) of diamonds each year.




Mirny Diamond Mine, Siberia

Mirny Diamond Mine has a depth of 525 m and 1200 m diameter This is one of the first and largest diamond mines in the USSR (Soviet Union). Now been abandoned. While still in operation, it takes 2 hours for trucks crossing from the top to the bottom of the mine.


Bingham Canyon Mine, Utah

Bingham Canyon mine is mine in the Oquirrh mountains, Utah. Mine has a depth of 1.2 km, a width of 4 km. This is the world's largest mining excavations.

Monticello is a manhole manhole in Napa County, California, Best known in America as circular valve with an average of 48,400 cubic feet per second.


Kimberley Diamond Mine, South Africa
 
Kimberley diamond mines (also known as the Big Hole) has the nickname of the largest hand-made hole in the world (still debatable). From 1866 to 1914, 50,000 miner dig with a hoe , producing 2,722 kg of diamonds. Underway to register this hole as a world heritage.


Darvaza Gas Crater, Turkmenistan

In 1971, the geologists found an underground natural gas deposits are very large in this place. Are doing the excavation for the gas, drilling tower collapsed and left a big hole. To prevent poisonous gas came out, the hole was left to burn. Until now still continue to burn without ever stopping.
